This week’s voluntary web project was helping the folks from House of the Commons with their wordpress site.
House of the Commons is a four day event organised by citizens, activists and housing professionals concerned with the UK housing crisis, specifically focusing on Oxford, but with a UK outlook
It is definitely worth checking it out.
Their site is self-hosted Wordpress with the free Ambling bellows theme. They needed some help getting the site working as expected. Specifically:
- Sorting out the menu system
- Setting up social sharing buttons
- Getting the recent posts plugin setup so that they could have a static front page that showed recent news
- Tweaking the theme a bit
They were great to work with, especially because they knew exactly what they wanted their site to do. I am looking forward to the event!
