charlieharvey.org.uk: operator userscript (techie)

I've just spent a couple of hours adding some basic microformat support to this site. You might have seen the Find Articles on New Internationalist -type Operator Userscript I made the other day. I thought I should make one for here too! So this is one that adds a "Find articles from Charlie" to your tagspaces options.

New Internationalist Operator Javascript (techie)

This is a little Operator Userscript that adds a "Find articles on New Internationalist" to your tagspaces options. BTW New Internationalist's soon-to-be-launched new site will have lots of microformat goodness rolled in. Exciting.

Making Sendmail use a relay even when not running the Sendmail daemon (techie)

This turned out to be a three pipe problem; all I wanted to do was not to run OpenBSD's send mail daemon, yet still be able to send mail from that box. It turns out that there's a simple answer in the post Improving Sendmail Security by Turning it Off, by Hal Pomeranz. From the post:

Note that you can also simply hack the submit.cf file
provided by your vendor. Just look for the line that reads

 D{MTAHost}[127.0.0.1]

Just replace [127.0.0.1] with the name of your new
 relay host. For example,

 D{MTAHost}mailhost

Daily Mail Story Generator (Code) (funny)

This is the code for my Daily Mail Story Generator, which I have just added a page for. This code generates the story, which I then parse into html to fit into my site hierarchy. It is a fairly trivial bit of code, but then so are the journalists who it mocks. *hehe*

ALF - the Apache Log Filter (techie)

ALF is a little project on which I'm working. Its a SQL based Apache Log Filter for web admins who need a little more flexibility, but are using text logging. This is an ogg theora preview of the alpha. The finished program will be a lot easier to use and friendlier, but, you know I'm easily excited. Watch this space for more!
